Domain authority checker: see how your site stacks up

Check the authority of up to 25 sites at once, on a 0 to 100 scale, with the number of sites linking to each. Put your own site first and you'll see how far ahead or behind your competitors you are.

Free, no sign-up. Scores come from DataForSEO's link index, and each result is kept for 7 days.

Put your own site first, then the competitors you want to compare. Up to 25, one per line.

Where the numbers come from

Domain authority is a 0 to 100 score for how strong a site's backlinks are. This checker uses DataForSEO's domain rank, which is built from the number of different sites linking to a domain, on the same principle as Google's original PageRank. Moz calls its version Domain Authority and Ahrefs calls its version Domain Rating, so expect their numbers to differ from ours.

Google doesn't use any of these scores. What they're good for is comparison: one tool, one day, your site against the sites you compete with.

The score moves mostly with the number of different sites linking to you, so we show that number next to it. Followed counts the sites with at least one link that isn't marked nofollow.

For scale, these are the scores we got on 29 October 2026: seoengico.com 37, fatjoe.com 50 and bbc.co.uk 88.

What to do with your result

A worked example

Say you run a roofing firm in Leeds. Enter your site first, then the three roofers above you in Google Maps.

If they score 25 to 30 and you score 12, look at the linking sites column. They might have 80 sites linking to them against your 20.

That gap is the thing to work on, not the score. Find out who links to them, and which of those sites would link to you too.

Questions, answered

What is a good domain authority score?

There's no fixed good number. A score only means something next to the sites you compete with. A local firm at 20 that beats every other firm in its area is in better shape than a site at 40 up against national brands at 70.

Is this the same as Moz DA or Ahrefs DR?

No. All three use a 0 to 100 scale and are built from backlinks, but each company has its own link index and its own formula, so the same site gets a different number from each. Compare sites with one tool, never across tools.

Does Google use domain authority?

No. Google has said it doesn't use third-party authority scores. They're estimates made by SEO tools to model how strong a site's links are, useful for comparing sites but not a ranking factor.

How do I increase my domain authority?

Get more good sites to link to you: suppliers, trade bodies, local news, clients and partners, and pages worth citing. Chasing the number with cheap links from sites nobody reads can lift the score without moving your rankings.

Why is my score 0?

We found no sites linking to that domain. It may be new, or your links may point to a different domain, like an old .com you used to run. Check for typos too.

How often do the scores update?

When nobody has checked a domain for 7 days, we fetch fresh numbers. Within that week you see the saved result, with the date it was checked.
